Episode 42 of #FanninsFlashbacks is now live! On this episode, Jim is joined by the best referee in IWA Mid South history Brent Blades and IWA historian and President of The Reckless Youth Fan Club: “The Mayor” Rich Wayne!
Like last week, these are return guests to the podcast as Brent was on Episode 2 and Rich was on Episode 5. You can catch those episodes in the archives on #IWTV! This time Brent, Rich, and Jim sit down for a watchalong of the last two episodes of IWA Mid South TV that were unearthed by the Between the Sheets Podcast. That’s right. IWA had TV for a couple of months in 1998 and Brent, Rich, and Jim were there at the tapings. Hear them give their thoughts and talk about their memories of this timeframe in IWA as they watch the February 14 and February 21, 1998 episodes of IWA Hardcore TV. See plenty of footage from the old KMart building and southern Indiana armories!

Episode 38 of Fannin’s Flashbacks is live! On this episode, Jim is joined by 2 of his long time friends that go back to the beginning of the Highland days of IWA Mid South in 2003: Sox and Ray. Sox had been begging for this episode since Jim started the podcast and then just completely screws the pooch when the recording begins. This episode is a trainwreck. None of which is Ray’s fault. Poor Prophet of Ash had to do way too much editing for the pennies he gets paid to do this so please suffer through this like Ash, Maniwa, Ray, and I had to do to make it worthwhile for all of us. You’ll probably like it once I go ballistic and just start yelling at Sox for how disengaged he is because he’s trying to follow a White Sox game on his phone instead of paying attention to the podcast he begged to be on. It took 38 weeks, the inverse of the 83 weeks that Nitro had in the lead in the Monday Night War, but we finally have our 2000 Nitro episode.

Remember, this is all Sox’s fault. Ray is innocent. Ash is innocent. Maniwa is innocent. I am innocent. I hope this episode doesn’t kill the town. So let it be written. So let it be done. Good day.

Have you ever wondered about Ian Rotten getting bitten by TWO brown recluse spiders and somehow not becoming Spiderman? What is Jim’s dream TPI? Who did Jim want to see on an IWA show that just didn’t happen? Why did Jim throw a chair and hit poor referee Andy Long in the head? Has anyone pissed off Jim yet in the locker room since his return? Has anyone not in The Fannin Family impressed Jim so far on the shows he’s done on his comeback tour? Episode 36 of #FanninsFlashbacks drops in the morning with Suicide Kid as my guest. It will be available on IWTV, my YT channel, and on all your fave podcatcher apps by searching BNMVS Podcast Network. The IWTV version will be enhanced with b roll from Smart Mark Video / IWTV footage of the matches and shows we talk about on the episode.
Suicide Kid had horrible timing for his career. He came right after the athletic commission started feuding with Ian and the crowds at the KMart building plummeted as a result. He was before the SMV era so all of his fantastic matches with Chip Fairway and others are mostly lost to time and then shortly into the SMV era, he blew out his shoulder and left the business.

But from 1998 – 2000, Suicide Kid was so popular that it led to Ian Rotten’s only heel run in IWA. He was the “franchise” before Chris Hero and Kid vs Chip was Hero vs Punk before Hero vs Punk.
Watch us talk about all that and more with the footage that does exist added on IWTV.
I hope you all love this episode as much as I did

Next week is the 21st anniversary and next month, Dark Side of the Ring will air its episode on Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher.

This includes several patented Jim rants about traveling with Ian, Ian’s business decisions, not catching people on dives, CZW, missing Mickie Knuckles win the IWA women’s title because he was kicked off commentary by CM Punk and of course they talk about Joe vs Necro. Episode 32 of Fannin’s Flashbacks is live! On this episode, Jim is joined by one of his commentary partners, a jack of all trades in the wrestling industry, Michael Zee. Listen as Michael Z discusses his start in the wrestling business stemming from the lack of seriousness
on the commentary for shows upsetting some of the talent.

Like Nick Maniwa and myself, Michael found himself doing it all on shows: refereeing, ring announcing, commentary, filming, whatever it took to make the show go. The one thing that eluded him that he wanted to do more of was booking. The same task that always eluded me on these
shows. Hear about the struggle to be able to have more input than just putting something out there for the tryout shows. What was it like trying to work with me when I had one foot out the door and actively didn’t want to be there anymore? How did my hatred for the whole damn state of Michigan impact our working relationship? All that and more
